Public Forest Management in the Outaouais -
YOUR OPINION COUNTS!
The Tactical Integrated Forest Management Plan (PAFIT), prepared by the Ministry of Forests, Wildlife and Parks (MFFP), outlines the general directions that guide public forest management strategies. The Sustainable Forest Development Act (L.R.Q., c. A-18.1), effective April 1, 2013, requires that a public consultation be held regarding this plan.
Delegated by the Outaouais MRCs and the City of Gatineau, the MRC Pontiac is mandated by the MFFP, by his Sustainable Forest Management Program, to organize and conduct this consultation. From November 8, 2017 to January 10, 2018, the MRC Pontiac invites the public to examine and comment on the 2018-2023 PAFI-T for Outaouais public lands.
The PAFI-T includes:
- Allowable cut by tree species and species group;
- Challenges and objectives of sustainable forest management;
- Forest management strategies;
- Main infrastructures.

The goal of this consultation is to gather comments and concerns from the public and interest groups regarding the PAFI-T. Input, therefore, must relate to strategic and tactical aspects of forest management, such as the issues and objectives involved.
Comments and concerns relating to operational aspects of forest management planning, such as silvicultural prescriptions, forestry operations locations, harvesting rights allocated by the ministry and log transport, will be requested and gathered during specific future consultations.
