FROM FEBRUARY 18 TO MARCH 15, 2019

New forestry activities have been added to the 2018-2023 Operational Integrated Forest Management Plan (PAFIO) for the following management units (UA): Coulonge (UA 71-51 and 71-52), Basse-Lièvre (UA 72-51) and Haute-Gatineau-et-du-Cabonga (UA 73-51, 73-52 and 74-51).

Delegated by the Outaouais MRCs and the City of Gatineau, the MRC Pontiac is mandated by the MFFP, by his Sustainable Forest Management Program, to organize and conduct this consultation.

From February 18 to March 15, 2019, the MRC Pontiac invites the public to express its concerns regarding the new forestry activities that have been added to the 2018-2023 Outaouais Operational Integrated Forest Management Plan (PAFIO) .

Content of new activities

New potential sectors (SIP) for forestry activities as well as roads and other infrastructures to be constructed or improved have been added to the 2018-2023 PAFIO.  SIP are composed of Commercial¹ and Non-commercial² sylvicultural works.

¹ "Commercial sylvicultural works" involve timber harvest.

² "Non-commercial sylviculral works" are intended to put harvested areas back into production after wood harvesting. These activities may include site preparation, reforestation and cleaning of regeneration, pre-commercial thinning and clearing.

Commercial and non-commercial forestry operations may be carried out, beginning April 2019, near the following municipalities:

Your comments will be forwarded to the Coordinator of the Outaouais Regional Table of Integrated Resources and Land Management (TRGIRTO) who will produce a report for the Ministry of Forests, Wildlife and Parks.

The purpose of this consultation is to collect feedback on the proposed forestry plans. It does not allow for the revision of the use of public land or associated rights.
